Description:
Full-time entry-level architect with a four or five year degree on the path to licensure with fewer than 2 years of experience. A cornerstone of L+M’s practice is the preservation and restoration of historic buildings. Whether they’re designated landmarks or simply structures of quality, these buildings, well used over time, often require attention to perform in today’s hi-tech world. Our goal, besides preserving and restoring them as representatives of our past, is to assure that they continue to serve today and function as integral parts of New York’s identity and future.
General Characteristics:
• Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area.
• Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
• Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work.
Direction Received:
• Receives close supervision on unusual or difficult problems, and general review of all aspects of work.
Technical Responsibilities:
• Performs basic design tasks.
• Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer aided design (CAD) work.
Managerial Responsibilities:
• Assigns tasks to and coordinates with technicians or administrative staff.
Communication Skills:
• Interacts with staff, general public, officials, and contractors.
